12/5/08 Little Lever SC
gain moral victory!
Having surrendered their
championship hopes on Saturday at Old Blackburnians, Premier division runners
up Little Lever SC beat the new champions Rossendale 2-1 to finish two points
behind them.
Meanwhile
Old Blackburnians made it a hat trick of cups by their ‘B’ team beating
Rossendale Amateurs ‘B’.
10/5/08 Rossendale’s
Championship!
The Premier division championship
was decided at Old Blackburnians who beat Little Lever SC 4-3 meaning that
Rossendale Amateurs won the championship with a 2-1 home win against
Chaddertonians. Bury Amateurs finished third on goal difference from Old
Blackburnians thanks to a 5-1 win against Little Lever in midweek.
In Division One, Old Blackburnians Reserves finish in runner up spot
behind Failsworth Dynamoes.
In Division Two Horwich Victoria’s won their final
game at Bacup 9-1 on Tuesday but fall three goals short of runners up spot on
goal difference to Chew Moor Brook.
3/5/08 Advantage
Rossendale!
The Premier division championship
took another twist as Rossendale beat Little Lever SC 1-0 and moved above them
at the top. Both teams have three games to go and meet again in their final
game of the season, but Rossendale currently have one extra point and better
goal difference. Bury Amateurs reinforced their claim for third position
beating Old Blackburnians 4-2 who themselves had moved into third place with a
midweek over Chaddertonians.
In Division One, champions Failsworth Dynamos rounded off the season
with a 3-0 win over Thornleigh, whilst Bolton Wyresdale’s 3-1 win over Bolton
Ambassadors mean they pip Castle Hill for the promotion spot by goal
difference, but now must await the result of Old Blackburnians final game
against Spotland Methodists.
In Division Two as predicted the championship will
be decided by goal difference. Howe Bridge Mills are top having scored their
hundredth goal of the season during a 7-0 home win against Oldham Hulmeians.
Chew Moor Brook gave it their best shot and have also gone past the hundred
goals in a season mark to remain second having beaten Bacup United 14-1 but
must now await Horwich Victoria’s final game at Bacup on Tuesday to see who
finishes runner up (or champions if they can win by twenty!).

30/4/08 Failsworth
clinch Division One Championship
Failsworth
Dynamos won the Division One championship with a 3-1 win against title rivals Castle
Hill, who must now be sweating on Bolton Wyresdale with better goal difference
not winning their final game against Bolton Ambassadors to finish in runners up
spot.
29/4/08 1st
Xl Final victory for Chaddertonians
Chaddertonians won the 1st
Xl Cup final tonight beating Bury Amateurs 2-1 at Leyland.
Meanwhile
the previous night in Division One, Failsworth Dynamos all but clinched the
Division One championship with a 1-0 home victory against Bolton Ambassadors
and now just need to avoid a cricket score defeat against Castle Hill on
Wednesday.
In Division Two a 2-0 away win at Old Boltonians
Reserves moved Howe Bridge Mills to top of the division on goal difference.
26/4/08 Little Lever
top Premier as Rossendale lose at home.
Little Lever SC moved to the top
of the Premier midweek and are now four points clear of Rossendale. Little
Lever won 2-0 at Rochdale St Clements whilst Rossendale went down in a 2-1 home
defeat by Old Mancunians. The leading pair still have to play each other twice
so the title race may yet go to the final game of the season. Bury Amateurs
remain in third place with a 2-0 win at Bolton lads Club, and have a ten game
unbeaten record going into Tuesdays 1st Xl cup final against
Chaddertonians.
In Division One, Failsworth Dynamos have moved above Castle Hill on
goal difference following their 3-0 away win at Chaddertonians. The league
title may be decided on Wednesday night when the leading pair play each other.
Bolton Wyresdale are third but their last remaining title hopes were dented by
a midweek defeat at Hindley, and a 2-2 draw against Broughton Amateurs means
they cannot catch both of the leading pair though they could still get
promotion. Tyldesley United are fourth but amazingly have lost their last 4
games, the last being a 5-1 away defeat at Old Blackburnians.
In Division Two goal difference is becoming
critical as leaders Chew Moor Brook won 3-1 away at Old Boltonians Reserves and
are three points ahead of both Howe Bridge Mills and Horwich Victoria both of
whom have a game in hand. The leading trio all won midweek and Howe Bridge
followed a 6-0 win in midweek with a 7-1 win at Old Blackburnians ‘A’. Horwich
Victoria beat Ladybridge 3-2.
19/4/08 Double blow for
Rossendale.
Rossendale Amateurs moved four
points clear of Little Lever SC in midweek but whilst they were involved in the
1st Xl cup semi final losing to Chaddertonians on penalties, Little
Lever moved back to within a point with a 3-1 away win at Lymm. Third place
Bury Amateurs booked their place in the cup final courtesy of a 2-0 home win
against Horwich Victoria.
In Division One two wins in four days have put Castle Hill three points
clear of the previous leaders Failsworth Dynamos and fellow title chasers
Tyldesley United who lost 1-0 at home to Castle Hill. Bolton Wyresdale are
fourth after two wins in three days the latest being a 5-2 home win against
Little Lever SC Reserves and now are in a strong position to win the title if
they win their games in hand on the three teams above them.
In Division Two home wins for Chew Moor Brook and
Howe Bridge Mills moved both teams above Horwich Victoria who were involved in
the Cup semi final.
12/4/08 Only ten games
escape the weather.
Heavy
rain overnight decimated the league programme and only 10 games were played out
of approx 40 scheduled. In Division One Bolton Wyresdale moved up to fourth
with a 3-2 away win at Hesketh, and third place Castle Hill drew 2-2 at
Prairie.
5/4/08 Rossendale go
back to top as Little Lever are held.
Rossendale Amateurs put their cup
final defeat firmly behind them and gained a fine 4-0 away win at Bury GSOB to
go top as Little Lever SC were held at home by Old Mancunians. Old
Blackburnians remain third after their 5-1 away win at Bolton Lads Club, with
Old Boltonians fourth after a 2-1 home win against Radcliffe Town.
In Division One leaders Tyldesley United slipped to second place after
losing a thrilling game 5-4 at Bolton Wyresdale, who remain fifth although with
games in hand they can still catch the leaders. Failsworth Dynamos return to
top position due to a 1-0 win at Broughton Amateurs, with Castle Hill remaining
third having beaten Hesketh casuals 3-1, and Prairie’s 5-2 home win against
Hindley Juniors leaving them fourth.
Chew Moor Brook extended their lead of Division Two
to six points after a 5-0 home win against Radcliffe Boys, as second place
Horwich Victoria lost 3-1 at Howe Bridge Mills.
1/4/08 Little Lever
come from behind to win the LFA Amateur Cup in extra time
Despite being 2-0 up in the first
half Rossendale Amateurs, succumbed to constant pressure from Little Lever SC,
and finally lost the LFA Amateur Cup final 3-2 after extra time. Although
Rossendale were on top for most of the first half, Little Lever pulled one goal
back from the penalty spot just before half time. Little Lever seemed to be
lacking the necessary striking power to equalise despite being on top for the
majority of the second half, but as normal time was running out, equalised with
a neat header with 5 minutes to go. The game went into extra time, remained 2-2
after the first period but Little Lever scored the winner at the start of the
second period of extra time. Rossendale came back strongly but were thwarted by
a series of excellent saves from the Little Lever keeper in the final minutes.
29/3/08 Heavy rain
means half of the fixtures are postponed.
Little Lever beat Horwich RMI 4-0
to remain top of the Premier and improve their goal difference, but are hotly
persued by Rossendale Amateurs, one point behind, who had a 3-1 away win at
Rochdale St Clements. Old Boltonians move up to fourth after a 3-2 away win at
Bolton Lads Club.
In Division One leaders Tyldesley United were held to a 2-2 home draw
by Prairie United and move three points ahead of Failsworth Dynamos who had
their game against third place Castle Hill abandoned due to the weather.
However Failsworth do have two games in hand on the leaders
The Division Two fixture programme lost out to the
weather with only Old Boltonians Reserves 4-2 win over Rochdale St Clements
beating the rain.
22/3/08 Little Lever win
game in hand and move to top.
Little Lever beat Bury GSOB 2-1
to go back to top of the Premier division as Rossendale Amateurs were not in
action. Old Mancunians move into the top four after a 4-3 away win at third
place Old Blackburnians.
In Division One the only game affecting the leaders saw Prairie United
move up to fourth after a 3-0 home win against Bolton Ambassadors.

top 4 saw fourth place Howe Bridge Mills gain a point from a 1-1 away draw at
Accrington.

postponed!
No change at the top of the
Premier division as leaders Rossendale Amateurs beat Lymm 5-1, second place

Horwich RMI 5-0. Old Boltonians overtake Bury Amateurs for fourth place after a
2-0 away win at Old Mancunians.

placed Rossendale Amateurs Reserves closed up on the leaders with a 2-0 win
away at fourth place Howe Bridge Mills.
8/3/08 Key Premier game
postponed!
The game between Premier Division
leaders Rossendale Amateurs and second place Little Lever SC sadly fell victim
of the weather so there was no rehearsal for the LFA Amateur Cup final on April
1st. With Bury Amateurs not in action, this enabled Old
Blackburnians 2-0 victors at Old Boltonians to retake third place.
In Division One leaders Failsworth Dynamos game was postponed and
second place Tyldesley United’s 1-0 away win at fellow title challengers Castle
Hill move within a point of the leaders. Castle Hill remain third, while Bolton

Chew Moor

7-2 win against Old Boltonians, as second place Horwich did not play.
Rossendale Amateurs Reserves are third after a 2-2 draw at Radcliffe Boys
followed by Howe Bridge Mills after a 5-1 away win at Rochdale St Clements
Reserves.

page.

after a 4-2 home win against Rochdale St Clements, whilst second place Little
Lever SC beat Horwich RMI 2-1 to end the day two points behind the leaders but
with a game in hand. The leading pair actually play each other next week in a
game that will be a rehearsal for the LFA Amateur Cup final. Bury Amateurs

Blackburnians fourth after a 2-1 away win at Chaddertonians.

The top half
of Division Two remains exactly the same as the only two matches to beat the
weather affected teams from the bottom six.
27/2/08 Rossendale win
sets up all LAL final of LFA Cup.
The league representative side drew 1-1 against the Lancashire &
Cheshire side played at Chorley FC, who are to be congratulated for their
excellent facilities and thanked for their friendliness and hospitality.
26/2/08 Rossendale win
sets up all LAL final of LFA Cup.
Rossendale Amateurs have beaten
Hurst Green 1-0 in the rearranged semi final of the LFA Amateur Cup, and will
now face Little Lever SC in the final that will be held at Leyland on April 1st.
23/2/08 Leaders retain
lead in top divisions.
Rossendale Amateurs retained
their lead at the top of the Premier division with a 7-0 away win at Horwich
RMI. Their potential LFA Amateur cup final opponents, Little Lever SC also won

away win at Broughton Amateurs, and Tyldesley United slip to third place after
a 4-1 home defeat by Old Blackburnians Reserves.
The top three in Division two all won, leaving Chow
Moor Brook, 5-3 winners at Astley Bridge, two points ahead of Horwich Victoria
who beat Roach Dynamos 1-0. Rossendale Amateurs Reserves 8-0 win at home to
Oldham Hulmeians leaves them in third place.
22/2/08 Little Lever
book their final place
On a heavy Bacup
pitch Little Lever booked themselves into the final of the LFA Cup after
beating Winstanley St Aidens 3 –2 after coasting into a 2 - 0 lead during the
first half in which they could have scored at least two other goals with a bit
of composure in their opponents penalty area.
Little Lever faced an onslaught in the second, with Winstanley
coming out firing on all cylinders. They pulled a goal
back midway through the second half and continued to throw everything at
Little Lever, whose defence managed to keep them at bay.
Against the run of play Ben Wells scored a cracking goal, beating
the keeper from all of twenty five yards with a dipping shot under the cross
bar.
Winstanley scored their second goal with about five minutes to go,
which set up a thrilling last few minutes, but could not get through the
hard working back line of Little Lever. Every Little Lever player deserves
praise for a job well done, they all ran themselves into the ground on a heavy
pitch, so congratulations and lets hope Rossendale Amateurs enjoy similar
success next Tuesday.
20/2/08 LFA semi final
postponed
Sadly the first LFA semi final
between Hurst Green and Rossendale Amateurs was postponed due to a frozen
pitch.
16/2/08 Rossendale
retain lead in the Premier as Failsworth take over in Division One.
Rossendale Amateurs have retained
a two point lead at the top of the Premier Division with a 3-1 win against
Radcliffe Town. Little Lever returned to winning ways with a 2-1 win at
Chaddertonians and move up to second place due to Bury Amateurs 3-0 home defeat
at the hands of Bolton Lads Club. Old Boltonians go fourth with a 1-1 draw
against Horwich RMI.
In Division One there are new leaders as Failsworth Dynamos were the
only one of he leading trio to win, 2-1 at Old Blackburnians. Overnight leaders
Tyldesley United slumped to a 3-0 defeat at Hindley Juniors, and Castle Hill
lost 1-3 at home to Bolton Wyresdale.
In Division Two, the leading pair played against each other with Chew Moor Brook beating Horwich Victoria 2-0 to not only take three points, but also take the divisional lead again. Third place Rosendale Amateurs went down 5-2 at neighbours Accrington Loyal Amateurs, whilst Howe Bridge Mill’s 7-1 win at Roach Dynamos consolidates their fourth place.
9/2/08 Rossendale take
over at the top of the Premier.
With the top teams playing each
other, a change at the top of the Premier division was always likely and with
leaders Little Lever losing 3-0 at home to third place Bury Amateurs, that’s
exactly what happened. Second place Rossendale Amateurs are the new leaders
thanks to a 2-1 away win at Old Boltonians who in turn drop from fourth to
fifth, as Old Blackburnians 4-1 victors against Lymm move up to fourth.
In Division One the three leaders all won, leaders Tyldesley United 4-3
against Hesketh Casuals, Castle Hill 3-1 at Bolton Ambassadors, and third place
Failsworth Dynamos 2-1 against Hindley Juniors.
In Division
Two, leaders Chew Moor Brook were held by Howe Bridge Mills, which has enabled
Horwich Victoria to return into poll position after a 1-0 victory over Old
Blackburnians ‘A’. Chew Moor Brook drop to second with Rossendale Amateurs
Reserves remaining third having beaten Roach Dynamos 2-0.
2/2/08 Lymm move off
the bottom of the Premier as weather cancels most fixtures.
The first real falls of snow had
most teams scurrying to their locals to get in front of the log fires, but not
so in southern climes as Lymm won the only game played in the Premier Division
1-0 against Bolton Lads Club, which sees Lymm jump up 3 places and the Lads
Club drop a place into a relegation spot.
In Division One three games managed to beat the weather, second place
Castle Hill’s 5-2 win over Spotland Methodists taking them within a point of
leaders Tyldesley United, third place Failsworth Dynamos 5-0 win at Hesketh
keeps them a point behind Castle Hill, and Hindley Juniors 4-0 win against
Broughton Amateurs lifts Hindley two places and also drops Broughton into a
relegation spot.
All Division Two games were postponed.
26/1/08 Little Lever
remain top of the Premier as Rossendale close in.
Little Lever SC retained their
lead at the top of the Premier Division with a 4-1 home win over Lymm and are a
point clear of Rossendale Amateurs, 3-2 victors at Chaddertonians and unbeaten
since September. Old Boltonians slip from second to fourth after a 2-1 home
defeat by Bury Amateurs who in turn move up from fourth to third.
In Division One leaders Tyldesley United retain top position despite a
2-1 home defeat by Chaddertonians Reserves, Castle Hill beat Little Lever SC
reserves 2-1 but the jury is still out on Failsworth Dynamos and Prairie United
who’s results were not phoned in.
Division Two
leaders Horwich Victoria lost 3-4 at home to Old Boltonians Reserves enabling
Chew Moor Brook to move up to top after a 3-0 away win against Rochdale St
Clements Reserves. Rossendale Amateurs Reserves remain third despite a 5-3 home

Not a good day for leaders!
On an unusual day, the leaders of all
three senior divisions all lost their poll position, and there are now three
teams on equal points at the top of the Premier and Division One. Little Lever
SC will be the least disturbed as they were in the LFA Cup and moved into the
next round. This gave Bury Amateurs the opportunity to go back in the lead,
which they did despite only drawing 2-2 at home to Mostonians. Old
Blackburnians move up to second with a 2-1 away win at Lymm, leaving Little
Lever SC third on goal difference from the leading pair but with two games in
hand.
In Division One leaders Castle Hill lost 2-1 at home to Bolton
Ambassadors and slip third again on goal difference, the new leaders being
Failsworth Dynamos after their 2-1 win at Hindley Juniors. Tyldesley United’s
move up to second place following a 3-1 away win at Hesketh.
A 2-0 away win by Howe Bridge Mills
over Division Two leaders Chew Moor Brook moves them up to third place, as the

their 5-1 win at Old Blackburnians ‘A’.
10/11/07
Cup upsets as Little Lever SC go back to top of the Premier.
It was the third round of cup
competitions for many clubs, a draw that saw Division One leaders Castle Hill
lose at Division two leaders Chew Moor Brook, and Horwich Victoria from
Division two defeating Division One’s Spotland Methodists 3-2. The biggest
upset of the day however was Tottington United from Division three gaining a
4-2 away win at Premier Division’s Old Mancunians.
Whilst Bury Amateurs were involved in the
1st Xl Cup, Little Lever SC moved to the top of the Premier division
after a 4-1 win against Bolton Lads Club.
3/11/07
Bury Amateurs go top as Little Lever SC slip up.

remain second with a 2-2 draw against Rochdale St Clements, with Old Boltonians
also drawing, and finishing the day third after their 1-1 draw against
Chaddertonians.
In Division One the top three teams all won, Castle Hill remain top
after a 3-1 win at Spotland Methodists, Failsworth Dynamos demolishing Hesketh
Casuals 8-0 to remain second, and Tyldesley United’s 6-4 victory against
Thornleigh sees them remain third.
Division Two leaders Chew Moor Brook
were held 1-1 at Rossendale Amateurs Reserves enabling second place Horwich
Victoria 5-0 winners against Ladybridge to narrow the lead to two points again.
Rossendale Amateurs Reserves and Accrington Loyal Amateurs remain third and
fourth respectively after draws.
27/10/07
Little Lever SC remain top
With Little Lever SC being involved in
the LFA Cup, the winners of the Bury Amateurs v Old Boltonians game would go
top, but both wasted the chance to go top by drawing 1-1. Old Blackburnians
move up joint second with a 2-1 away win at Bury GSOB.
In Division One Castle Hill remain top after a 1-0 win at Little Lever
Reserves and the only other game involving the top sides saw Failsworth Dynamos
move from fourth to second after a 2-1 win at Thornleigh.
Division Two leaders Chew Moor Brook have extended their lead from two
points to four points having beaten Rochdale St Clements Reserves 6-0, whilst
Horwich Victoria were held 2-2 at Old Boltonians Reserves. Wins for Rossendale
Amateurs Reserves and Accrington Loyal Amateurs enable them to be level with
Horwich on points but separated by goal difference.
20/10/07
Little Lever back on top!.
Little Lever SC moved back to the top of
the Premier division with a 2-1 win over Rochdale St Clements as Bury Amateurs

winners against Hesketh Casuals to go top, and Castle Hill’s 3-0 away win at
Hindley Juniors moved them up to second with Tyldesley United third and
Spotland Methodists fourth.
The Division Two leaders Chew Moor
Brook beat Ladybridge 5-1 for the second week on the run and are two points
ahead Horwich Victoria who move up to seconds following their 6-2 win at Oldham
Hulmeians.
6/10/07 County Cup day.
With the second round of the County Cups
taking place, there was a limited league fixture list for 1st teams,

20/6/07
Annual General Meeting.
The Annual General meeting for the
2006/07 was held in the Sir Tom Finney suite at the County Ground Leyland.
Having dealt with the official reports,
four clubs who had applied to join the league, Roach Dynamos, Ladybridge, CBM,
and Astley Bridge were accepted and welcomed into the LAL. The League Council
sadly had to propose that Bromley Cross be expelled from the league and a
ballot ratified this proposal, AFC Ramsbottom having already resigned from the
league during the season.
Finally the new President, Peter Johnson
was inaugurated taking over from Roger Masters.
5/5/07
Rochdale St Clements Premier division title confirmed.
Having secured four points in midweek,
Rochdale St Clements had to avoid losing their last game by eleven goals to
secure the title. Old Mancunians managed to beat the new Champions 2-1 but the
result formally confirmed Rochdale as the 2006/07 champions. At the other end
of the table, Radcliffe Town’s attempt to avoid relegation was thwarted by
Hindley Juniors failing to turn up to their last game, which will inevitably
result in disciplinary action.
26/4/07
Bury GSOB set Rochdale Premier title target.
Bury GSOB won their last game of the season 2-0 at Prairie to finish
the season on 51 points, as Rochdale St Clements made it three wins in six days
with a 3-1 away win at Radcliffe Town. Rochdale now need five points from their
last three games to win the title though with superior goal difference four
points will probably be enough.
In Division One, with champions Old Blackburnians and runners Horwich
RMI having already completed their fixtures, the final five games played
produced 31 goals, with the result of the day being Thornleigh guaranteeing
themselves fourth place with a 7-3 win over third place Tyldesley United.
The Division Two runners up spot has
been won by Old Blackburnians Reserves with a 3-0 away win at Rochdale St
Clements Reserves, just staying ahead of Howe Bridge Mills who finish third
after beating Old Boltonians 5-0 to finish the season with an unbeaten run of
twelve games, with ten wins and two draws since losing 3-1 to Old Blackburnians
Reserves on February 3rd.
23/4/07
Mostonians ‘B’ win 4th Xl Cup
The
fourth eleven final was won by Mostonians ‘B’ who beat Broughton Amateurs 2-0.
On a very wet night where chances were few and far between, Mostonians scored
their first goal in the first half after a defensive error by Broughton which
was punished when the ball skidded under their keeper. Broughton got back into
the game in the second half, creating a number of chances but could not score.
Mostonians sealed the game after a long ball down field caught the Broughton
keeper in two minds that allowed the Mostonians forward to nip in and score
their second goal.
21/4/07
Bury GSOB resilient with the Premier lead, Horwich confirm runners up spot in
Division One and Failworth confirmed as Divison Two champions.
Bury GSOB kept the pressure on Premier championship rivals Rochdale St
Clements by beating them 2-0 in Bury’s penultimate game, a result which is turn
opens the door for last years champions Little Lever SC to come with a late run
aided by a 3-1 away victory at Hindley Juniors. Rochdale and Little Lever still
have to meet each other on May 3rd. an evening when all three teams could
still be in the reckoning.
In Division One, champions Old Blackburnians returned to winning ways
with a 3-2 home victory over Broughton Amateurs but the most important result
of the day was a 3-1 home win for Horwich RMI over Bolton Wyresdale, which confirms
them as runners up, with Tyldesley United guaranteed to finish third.
The three leading teams in Division Two Failsworth Dynamo’s
championship win was confirmed with a combination of a 2-1 home victory against
Rochdale St Clements Reserves, and their nearest rivals, Old Blackburnians
Reserves drawing 0-0 at Horwich Victoria.

Premier championship decider?
As Rochdale St Clements have been playing and winning their games in
hand in recent weeks, it appears that only Bury GSOB now can stop them from
winning the Premier division championship. Their latest of six consecutive wins
came on Wednesday 18th April, with a 3-1 at Bury Amateurs.
