The Lancashire Amateur Football League

."Proud of our past, forward thinking for the future"..

The Lancashire Amateur Football League (more commonly known as the LAL) was founded in 1899 and consists of approx. 40 Clubs who run in the order of 140 teams.

These Clubs are situated throughout the old boundaries of Lancashire & Cheshire; stretching from Preston in the North, Southport in the West, Rochdale and Oldham in the East and Lymm in the South.

The League has an excellent reputation for fair play and sportsmanship and its Premier League has "feeder league status" within the FA Pyramid scheme for Referees.

The Leagues centenary was celebrated in style in March 1999 at a Centenary Dinner held at Blackpool attended by over 350 guests including the FA Chairman Geoff Thompson.

Although the players are Amateurs, a hard working and enthusiastic Executive Committee and League Council who are elected by Clubs in membership of the League, run the League in a professional manner.

New applications to the League are welcomed from suitable candidates.

Although Clubs running a minimum of 2 teams are preferred, the League will consider applications for Clubs running 1 team provided they match the Leagues standards expected for Discipline, Ground & Facilities, Fair Play and standards of Organisation/Administration.

The League has a strict policy of monitoring the discipline record of players (using a points system) and players whose conduct has not been considered acceptable are subject to their registration being withdrawn.

About this site.

This site was started in January 2000 and was created by Philip Robinson, son of the League Treasurer Alan Robinson, who has continued with its development since.

From the very beginning it was intended to be functional rather than flashy, in order to promote and allow wider viewing of information regarding the League.

Thus no fancy graphics here!

It is hoped to develop the site further and any contributions or suggestions are welcomed either by e-mailing Alan, or by using our guestbook.

Please feel free to use or download our fixtures, results, and League tables.

We do hope you find the LAL Website useful!
